Photobiomodulation and its benefits in the dental trauma protocols for children: a case report

The classification of traumatic dental injuries can involve teeth, supporting structures, or gingival and oral mucosa. therapeutic use lasers has become standard practice in many medical fields, but traumatology is not yet one them. This case report relates trauma a 36-month-old girl referred to the Dental Trauma Center for Children Adolescents University clinic (Brazil). Her fall down stairs at home resulted face trauma, avulsion primary incisor soft tissue injuries. mother reported pain inflammation lacerated lip. After examination, low-level laser was applied ulcerated lip tissues. protocol punctual continuous application 660nm, 1J/point every 48 hours. biomodulation capacity provided complete healing after 14 days sessions. Clinical trials are suggested. Conservative treatment this severe soft-tissue into baby showed clinically satisfactory result. Minimal intervention also important minimize possible psychological side effects surgical therapy. Low-level an excellent alternative therapy children, because their analgesic/anti-inflammatory biomodulatory effects.
